RANTHAMBORE
WHERE TO STAY
•Six Senses Fort Barwara — Our stay at Six Senses Fort Barwara in Ranthambore felt like stepping into a storybook. This beautifully restored 14th-century fort balances historical elegance with modern luxury, offering an unforgettable experience. From thrilling wildlife safaris to thoughtfully curated cultural experiences, every moment was special to say the least. Here are our top recommendations for making the most of your visit:
EXPERIENCES
• Tiger Safari — Set off on THE adventure to explore the depths of Ranthambore National Park, located just 30 minutes from the resort. Six Senses provides luxurious transportation to the park, where your guides await in comfortable, open air safari jeeps. They offer both early morning and afternoon excursions; we chose the early morning safari, which lasted about 5-6 hours. Spotting tigers and other wildlife in their natural habitat was an unforgettable experience. The resort also packed a luxurious picnic with sandwiches, fresh fruits, breakfast pastries, chai, coffee, and more — making our early morning adventure even more special.
• Heritage & Rewilding Walk — Take a guided heritage walk through the fort’s grounds to learn about the rich history of Fort Barwara, built in the 14th century. The walk immerses you in local culture, traditions, myths, and rituals, offering a deeper understanding of the region’s past and its connection to nature.
• Sound Bath at the Meditation Hall — One of the most serene experiences we had was a sound bath in the resort’s meditation hall. Surrounded by the ancient walls of the fort, the soothing sounds felt even more powerful and grounding, offering a deep, beautiful experience.
• Visit Dastkar — This local nonprofit empowers women artisans who create handmade textiles, clothing, and home goods. You can watch them work and purchase beautiful, meaningful pieces. We brought back outfits for friends & family and our pups.
FOOD
• Hotel Dining — The food at Six Senses was some of the best we had in India. Be sure to ask for Happyji, a wonderful waiter who made our dining experience extra special.
• Masala Chai — Don’t miss the freshly brewed masala chai served in the hotel’s courtyard — it’s the perfect afternoon treat.
• Stop by Aman-i-Khás for Chai & Pakoras — Even if you aren’t staying at this ultra-luxurious resort, you can still experience its serene beauty by stopping in for chai and pakoras. It’s a perfect way to enjoy the property if you don’t have time for a full stay.
*Every trip I take to a new country, I choose a new fragrance to wear throughout the trip. It becomes intertwined with the places, moments, and memories of that adventure. Whenever I wear it again, I’m instantly transported back to the travel memories. For this trip, I wore Twilly d'Hermes Ginger — a scent that will forever remind me of India.
